Life at Kerusten is very comfortable and fun – even in the Winter!

Helpers stay in the house adjoining Noelle and Philippe's. We generally eat lunch together in Noelle's kitchen but take breakfast and dinner in our own houses as Noelle and Philippe like to have time alone – understandably! The food is excellent by the way, a lot of it is from the garden and whatever isn't is all organic.

At the moment we are staying in the converted house right next to Noelle and Philippe's which is usually rented out, however we have been working on the longère opposite in order for it to be habitable by the helpers. Hopefully it will be ready by the spring and promises to be a cosy and characteristic building!

There is wifi so it's good to have your own laptop, however they've been very generous letting me use their computer for internet access although understandably, only at certain times of day.

Daily life is healthy. They require 15 hours of work per week which averages out to 3 hours per weekday (in the morning) although it is possible to lump more hours of work into the afternoon in order to have an extra day off. The work varies from day to day. In November (as I am writing this) there's a lot of planting to be done so that the plants can put down their roots over winter. In spring there will be a lot of weeding and tidying of the garden to be done, and showing visitors around the garden on weekends in May and June when Noelle and Philippe are away selling their flowers. If the rain is really bad we do housework or wait until the afternoon to work in the garden, but sometimes you've just got to get on with it! Bring waterproofs and old clothes, they can lend you a pair of wellington boots.

The countryside in Brittany is beautiful. If you have a car you can explore the wild coastline and various towns. If you don't then there is a bicycle which you can use to explore locally, but beware; it's very hilly! Excellent excersise. Often Noelle and Philippe go to places around the region on the weekend to either buy or sell plants, and if there's room you can tag along.

All in all it's a great place to wwoof!

My experience of this place is very happy!

You will be amazingly well fed, and the work is just right. It's not hard but sometimes precise. You'll not be expected to have any special skills or experience, but they won't ignore any talents or interests you do have.

Right now in December were working with Philippe and Noelle on renovating the house for volunteers to live in. It'll be an amazing home.

Come and plant roses, prune, eat, paddle in the stream, cycle to Le Croisty, explore and chillax.
